I am asked to pay, but I haven't sent my documents yet. How does it work?
We will ask you to upload your documents right after the payment step. Once we receive your documents, we will issue your policy right away. At the payment step, we only take an authorization on your card; we make the payment only after issuing your policy. If the details that you have entered match your documents, the price of your policy will not change. In case there are any differences, we will contact you immediately to make sure that we can still issue your policy on time.

Why am I asked to pay if before I send my documents?
On the payment screen, we ask for your card details but only to take an authorization. Meaning, that the amount you must pay is blocked on your card, but we don't take your money just yet. After your documents are upload and approved, we issue your policy and convert your authorization automatically to a payment. You are only charged after your policy is issued. If your policy is not issued for any reason, we cancel the authorization, and you are not charged at all.

Can I buy my policy today and have it start at a future date?
Absolutely. You can buy your policy today and have it start up to 30 days in advance. We recommend that you buy your policy in advance as you can lock in the price and avoid the hassle when you renew your registration. However, it is important to note that you can renew your registration only when your new policy has started.

What is a Deductible?
A policy deductible also called a policy excess, is the part of the claim that you have to pay yourself other than what the insurance company has to pay. As an example, if it costs AED 5,000 to repair your car and you have a deductible of AED 500, it means that the insurance company will pay AED 4,500 for this repair and you will need to pay AED 500. The deductible applies to every accident.

Once I issue my policy, is there a time restriction before I can file a claim?
It is important to differentiate between the issue date and the start date of your policy. A policy can be issued with a start date in the future (up to 30 days). However, once your policy has started and you have registered your car, you can claim on your policy without any time restrictions.

Will I get a refund if I cancel my insurance?
Yes, but the exact amount will depend on the insurance company that you have chosen and their cancellation procedures. If you have not registered your car using the new insurance policy, you can typically cancel your policy for a small fee. If you have been driving using your new policy, you will usually get a percentage refund for the unused part of your policy. For example, you would get a refund of 75% or less if you cancel your policy after 3-months. Some companies will not refund you on cancellation if you have claimed on the same policy before. In any case, our team will be glad to assist you with the cancellation process and make sure that you receive a refund by the policy terms.

I asked Aqeed to cancel my order before my policy was issued. How long will it take to get a refund?
Should you ask us to cancel your order before issuing your policy, we will immediately initiate the refund of your payment. In case of a credit card transaction, we only authorize your card before policy issuance. This means that your credit limit will be reduced, however no payment is taken from your card. If a cancellation is requested, we void this authorization and your bank will adjust your credit limit within 15 days. On your credit card statement, you will not see a debit or refund transaction in this case. If you have paid using a debit card, we will immediate initiate the refund and your bank will receive the refund payment within one business day. It can take up to 45 days however for your bank to credit this refund back to your account. If a refund is taking longer than expected, we will gladly assist you to follow up on the status of your refund with your bank.

My tax invoice and policy shows a higher amount than I paid. What is the reason?
If you received a promotional discount on our website, your policy and tax invoice will still show the full standard price for your policy. This does not mean that you have to pay anything extra however. On the contrary, it means that Aqeed paid the difference for you. Since the discount is provided by us, we pay the full price to the insurer and the insurer will show the full price on the policy. The VAT is also paid on the full premium. If you receive a 5% discount, the invoice amount before VAT with match the amount that you paid. Rest assured though, this is just a coincidence as doesn't mean that VAT was not paid.

On my policy it shows your phone number and email address? Should it not show my details?
As your agent, we represent you in front of the insurance companies. We are on your side should you need to claim or make changes to your policy. This is why we provide our contact details. Most insurance brokers follow this approach. Insurance companies rarely contact customers after policy issuance due to the nature of the business. In case of a claim, you will need to contact the insurance company and we will gladly assist you with this task.

Aqeed asked me to provide a copy of my credit card? Why is this necessary?
To comply with credit card regulation, we are sometimes required to collect a proof of ownership of the credit card that was used to make a payment. This will be the case if for example you are using a credit card that was not issued in the UAE or if the name of the card holder does not match the name of the policy holder. This is a standard procedure and it is sufficient to send a picture of the front of your credit card showing the last 4 digits of the card number. The remaining digits should be made unreadable for security reasons.
